During the hNine of Art Deco, Edmond Etling operated a world-famous Parisian studio that commissioned high-quality works in bronze, ceramics and glass. Here is one such treasure: a chalice-like bronze trophy with two heavily cast friezesone depicting racing cars and motorcycles, the other a continuous pattern of laurel garlandsabove a deeply chased stem and foot, mounted atop a Carrara marble plinth. The exemplary creation has an engraved signature on the foot, "Ste ETLING Editeur." Interestingly, the trophy cup was constructed with the ability to rotate at its base and also one tier up, just below the wreathed friezepresumably for an easier view of the fine artistry |
