Franco Cortese in a 6CM Maserati on the bricked banking of Avusrennen 1937

One can almost feel their heart beating in their chest as if they were the central figure of this bronze sculpture. A well-executed example, signed by "E. Mardini" along the rim, this piece captures the essence of an early single seater racing car driving on a banked oval. It conjures up the illusion of speed as the driver fights for control of his racer as he takes the turn. This racing car is styled after the famous "Bird Cage" Maserati (with a little artistic license). The sculpture measures 11" x 6-1/2
